Treasury forecasts show that the number of people paying IHT
will rise by a third this year, from around 35,000 families to 44,000 families.
Tens of thousands more will be pushed over the £325,000 threshold the following
year.
Inheritance tax is paid at 40% on the value of an estate
over the threshold (or two thresholds, £650,000, for a couple)
The £325,000 figure had steadily risen up until 2009 and at
the moment, has been frozen until at least 2018.
